We spent the night of June 7 in Castiglione della Pescaia, in a festive atmosphere because of a beach tennis international tournament and a swimming competition, which prompted the town to kick off the season with some fireworks.
After visiting Pitigliano, we traveled through Maremma towards Castiglione della Pescaia. A few kilometers before Castiglione we stopped at Le Mortelle winery. Owned by the Antinori family, the estate has a state of the art cellar. Besides wine, Le Mortelle produces also olive oil, peaches, blueberries, and cork.

On June 4 we had dinner at Salvatore Toscano’s Mangiando Mangiando, where we tasted some great pappa al pomodoro, peposo, and a delicious steak from Trequanda.
We slept in Castiglioncello and headed to the beach on Saturday evening and Sunday morning …
After Fonte di Foiano, we headed to Luciano Zazzeri’s La Pineta, for a taste of the best local fish prepared in an elegant and simple way.
